A Laguna Nigel woman was convicted Thursday of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy who played hockey on a team with her son.
Kathia Maria Davis, 45, had "unlawful sexual intercourse" on four occasions with the boy after giving him alcohol, the Orange County district attorney's office said in a statement.
The incidents took place between July 2010 and July 31, 2011, according to prosecutors. The victim ultimately told his mother what happened, and she alerted authorities.
Davis was accused of sexually assaulting another teenage boy during a sleepover at her home in which alcohol was also involved. But the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict. The district attorney's office said it intends to retry those charges.
Davis faces a maximum sentence of 5 years in state prison for the sexual assault conviction involving the 16-year-old boy. She is scheduled for sentencing and retrial on Nov. 5 at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
