Camp Pendleton Marine, 3 soldiers from California die in AfghanistanJuly 30, 2012 |  4:00pm

A Marine from Camp Pendleton and three soldiers from California have been killed in four incidents in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Monday.

Dead are:

-- Marine Gunnery Sgt. Daniel Price, 27, from Holland, Mich., assigned to the 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, at Camp Pendleton. Price was killed in combat Sunday in Badghis province.

-- 1st Lt. Sean Jacobs, 23, of Redding, Calif., assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. Jacobs was killed in combat Thursday in Khakrez.

-- Spc. Benjamin Pietez, 25, of Turlock, Calif., assigned to the California National Guard's 1072nd Transportation Company, 746th Combat Support Battalion, 224th Sustainment Brigade, at Van Nuys. Pietez died Friday at Mazar E Sharif.

-- Pfc. Jose Oscar Belmontes, 28, of La Verne, assigned to the 630th Engineer Company, 7th Engineer Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, at Ft. Drum, N.Y. Belmontes was killed in combat Saturday in Wardak province.
