Following two years of low rainfall and with the majority of South East England and East Anglia officially in drought, seven water companies have issued a hosepipe ban. The hosepipe ban came into force on 5th April 2012.

Despite typically being known as a rainy country, parts of the UK have seen a significant drop in rainfall levels causing drought. Now, a hosepipe ban has been introduced which could affect thousands of drivers.

In the run up to and throughout summer, motorists may want to keep their cars looking pristine and clean, especially if they have a new car. However, the hosepipe ban restricts the public from nonessential uses of water, which includes washing cars.

Drivers dont necessarily need to rely on a hosepipe to keep their vehicle looking good as Car Loan 4U has some great tips on how to get a great finish.

1. Car body

The traditional way of getting grime of a vehicle involves a bucket and sponge. You will need soap or shampoo designed specially for cars so that you do not damage the paintwork. You will also want to use a sponge or rag to avoid scratching the body. Start washing in circular motions at the top of the car and work your way down so to avoid moving the dirt around the vehicle.

2. Wheels

You could purchase a long, thin wheel brush to optimize cleaning the wheels. The bristles can get into hard to reach places and remove the dirt more efficiently from the tyre sidewall and wheel spokes.

3. Finish

Once you have completed cleaning your car, you will need to dry it thoroughly to prevent water spots on the paintwork. In addition, to create a brand new car look, you might want to use polish and waxing products.
